Jalal El Hakmaoui was born in 1965 in Casablanca. He teaches literary translation, and is a member of the Maison de la poésie in Morocco and the Union des Écrivains du Maroc. He is a poet, translator, film critic and independent journalist. His poetry publications include: Certificat de Célibat (Paris: Éditions Galgamesh, 1997), Allez un peu au cinéma (Toubkal, 2007), Ce que je n’ai pas dit à Al Pacino, bilingual edition, (Brussels: Maelström, 2012), Perfect day, (Brussels: Maelström, Maison de la poésie d’Amay, forthcoming, 2016). He is currently director of the international electronic poetry journal, www.electronlibre.ma and the Maison Internationale des traducteurs littéraires in Morocco. He lives and works in Rabat. His poetry has been translated into French, English, Chinese, Romanian, Italian…
