Alban Bala (born May 24, 1970) grew up in Lezhe, a medieval city facing the sea. His first poems collection ‘Semafor’ appeared in 1989. On his return from a 3years emigration effort in Europe he published ‘Lerme te Hesht’ (Let Me Be Silent – 1993). His first prose went to the presses on 1994 with a collection of short stories ‘Te verberit’ (The Blinds). His short novels collections – ‘Ikje nga Shtrati'(Spill Out of Bed – 2005) and ‘Qyteti me Sy te Kuq’ (The City of Red Eyes – 2009) appeared only ten years later. In poetry Bala published on 2005 Ngjyra mbi det (Colors on the Sea) and “Dashuria e Burrit” (The Love of Man – 2013) – a book that sold within one year over 2,000 copies.
