Aleksander Nawrocki is a poet, critic, and translator who graduated in Polish philology, Hungarian philology and ethnography at the University of Warsaw, continuing his studies in Hungary and Romania. His poetical debut was in 1965 in ‘Kultura’ weekly magazine, edited by Stanisław Grochowiak – the ‘Prince of Poets’. His first volume of verse, ‘Rusty fruit’ was published in 1966 and by now he has written 12 volumes of poetry, with10 volumes published abroad, has participated in many prestigious international literary festivals and is the recipient of ten international literary awards. He is the author and publisher of “Polish Poetry – Anthology of the Millennium”, also the co-editor of a bilingual anthology of Polish poetry- “From century to century”, which presents an anthology of poetry from 14 Slavic countries.
