Benaissa Bouhmala, born in 1951 in Meknès, Morocco, is a professor in Moroccan Modern Literature and contemporary literature critic. As a member of the Moroccan Writer’s Union she has published the work Negritude in Modern Sudan’s Poetry, the Example of Mohamed Al-Fituri. Other prominent works include The Orphans of Summer… In the poetry of Hassab Cheikh Jaâfar, volume 1 and 2. Bouhmala is a Member of the House of Poetry in Morocco, as well as a member of the jury for selecting the best book in Morocco, a contest organized by the Ministyr of Culture.
