Dusko Novakovic was born in 1948 in Podgorica, Montenegro. He was educated in Montenegro, Macedonia and Serbia. In Belgrade he studied Yugoslav and World Literature at the Faculty of Philology. He worked as a poetry editor in several newspapers and magazines for literature and has published more that ten books of poetry. Novakovic is the laureate of the most important poetry award in Serbia “Vasko Popa” (2004). He translates poetry and prose from Macedonian and has published an anthology of the contemporary Macedonian poetry. His poems, separately and in anthologies, have been translated in numerous world languages: French, English, German, Italian, Swedish, Romanian, polish, Czech, Slovakian, Turkish, Hungarian, hindu, Macedonian, Slovenian, Bulgarian. Dusko Novakovic is a member of the Serbia PEN. He lives and works in Belgrade.
