Francis Combes was born on the 31th of may 1953, in France. As a student he made studies of political sciences at “Sciences po”, in Paris, and, in the same time, in the institute for eastern languages and he studied for some years Russian, Chinese and Hungarian. As a poet, he published about 15 books: Cévennes ou le ciel n’est pas á vendre, Au vert gallant jeté en Seine, Les petites leçons de choses, Cause commune, le Cahier bleu de Chine and La clef du monde est dans l’entrée á gauche. He also wrote song and worked with musican, especially with the Chilean musican Sergio Ortega (who worked with Pablo Neruda) and with whom he wrote two operas.
