L. Laslo Simon was born in Szekesfehervar (ancient capital of Hungary) on 28th March 1972. He finished high school in his hometown. He graduated Hungarian Literature and History at the Budapest University. From 1998 until 2004 he was the Chairman of the Union of Young Writers, and during 2004-2010 the General Secretary of the Writers’ Union of Hungary. Simultaneously he worked as an editor of the well-known revue “Kortars” and editor of the Budapest publishing “Sepirodalom”. Since 2005 he has been a lecturer at the Catholic Faculty. He has published thirteen books of poetry and essyas. In 2007 he won the most prestigious Hungarian poetry award “Attila Jozsef”. In 2010 as a candidate of the ruling party “Fidesz” he became a member of the Hungarian Parliament. He is the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee of Culture and Information. Since 2012 he has been appointed Secretary of State for Culture.
